Need feedback - I see my Shruthi's not so good. It's been nearly 10 years since I took a singing lesson and it shows! Let me share this with you and embarass myself into going back and getting back the voice, the breath control and the pitch!

My Profile

aSHANTI OMkar
London via Nigeria and Sri Lanka

Music, arts and culture journalist, with a predisposition to the Occidental music and arts scene! I love what I do and am hugely passionate about media. I have a radio show which is also podcasted via itunes on www.desihits.com - it is called South Side. For more on it, check http://omkari.wordpress.com

Current Position Journalist | Poet | Radio presenter | Artiste Liaison & consultant

Qualifications University of London graduate - Marketing | Management | IT

Work Experience www.desihits.com | Street Cred Magazine | The Score | Asian Woman Magazine | Asian Post Newspaper | EMMA | SL2UK |

Career highs Covering WOMAD Sri Lanka, Live 8 Africa calling at Eden Project with Angelina Jolie, Peter Gabriel, interviewing Gurinder Chadha, Om Puri, Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Mira Nair, Upen Patel, musicians like Akon, Common, John Legend, Dwele, Jon B, Karen David, Raghav, M.I.A, AR Rahman (Inside Man, Lord of War, Lord of the Rings, the musical - opening in London in May 2007), Nitin Sawhney, Rishi Rich, Jay Sean, Kray Twinz and also veterans like Apache Indian (my very 1st interviewee).

Who I am I consider myself to be Tri-national, combining an essence of proudly being Tamilian (In 2005, I went back to the country of my birth after 20 years, for WOMAD Sri Lanka), African (Nigerian to be precise) and sometimes quintessentially British (Asian), as those have been the roots of my upbringing!

As with everyone, I too have shared many trials and tribulations in life, but have stayed positive and reflective. My creative outputs teamed with good friends & sheer perceverance have helped me through a lot and thus, I count my every blessing. Leaving a thriving IT career for journalism was indeed a big step, but certainly worth it! I started in journalism without a single contact to my name - just a good bunch of editors who encouraged me to keep writing and since then, have produced over 350 articles on various topics. I believe that one you find your dream, never look back - the universe, as Paulo Coelho says, will help conspire to make it come true, even if it means the world around you changes!
